Child friendly service

This morning I worshipped at Calvary Episcopal Church in Cincinnati. The 9:30 family service was delightful; look at the lectern with children's hand prints! The Rector used a monkey puppet with a French accent as children gathered around. We sang a lively mix of traditional and contemporary music, which seemed to appeal to the array of people who participated.

How can we make our worship more welcoming to children?

I love the hand prints on the lectern! Our children's artwork/contributions, and perhaps the kids singing during the children's sermon might be a nice addition to our family service.
Thanks for sharing, Sean...

What a great lectern! It is really great that you are able to attend so many different and varied services during your travels. You were in my "neck of the woods"...my hometown of Portsmouth, Ohio is just 95 miles down the river from Cincinnati.

Maybe it's because of my lifelong love of Muppets, but I love the idea of a children's sermon delivered by a puppet!
